Victoria Secunda put to rest our fears and insecurities about gardening.  What used to seem like an endless string of daunting tasks can now be enjoyed as a wonderfully unfolding work in progress.   Every season brings another interesting development or marvelous discovery -- and best of all garden bickering is a thing of the past!  In a world where gardening can feel like a cut throat competitive sport, Vicky is the calm voice of reason with a steady pruning hand.

When we bought our house we inherited lovely shrubs, plants and flower beds. At first we were thrilled--then when Spring came I was overwhelmed and petrified. I had no idea what to do to the plants and shrubs and not a clue what to buy for the beds. Instead of finding my yard relaxing, it was intimidating. I called Victoria and she swooped in and saved the day like some gardening super hero. She demystified pruning and caring for the plants and went with me to numerous garden centers. I learned what plants might work where and that it's OK to try something new. We had a blast together and my confidence was truly boosted. If it weren't for Vicky, I would still be afraid of my yard. Instead it gives me joy!

Victoria is the just what the doctor ordered!  I love to work in my  garden, but don't really know what I'm doing.  She is full of knowledge, great ideas, and great contacts to help me with things I can't do myself.  And to top it off, she's FUN. Right now I need a visit from Victoria to check up on our work together, make sure I did the most important bits, help me remember what else I'm supposed to be doing and help me with a plan for Spring  I wish she could  work with me every day!

I moved from New York City and I did what most new homeowners do: I read a book and ran out, bought a lot of expensive perennials, stuck them in the ground, and congratulated myself for my industry and initiative. Soon, I got to watch them...die.
Then I met my Garden tutor, Victoria Secunda, and she taught me all the mysteries of soil amending to ensure that the plants get everything they need for proper establishment and enhanced growth. Victoria also taught me how to prune so my plants look ever so much fuller and healthier!  She always respected my budget and helped me formulate short-range and long-range design goals and plans. With her at my elbow, patiently and joyously teaching, I am developing an eye and a know-how that I'd never thought possible after all my days as a New York City girl. Victoria is actually saving me money and cultivating a fledgling gardener at the same time.

A person like Victoria comes along only once in a lifetime.  Witty, charming, candid, talented, knowledgeable, gardener extraordinaire and very funny.  As requested, Vicky came to my home to help me with my exterior landscaping project.  Not only did she transform my gardens and foundation landscaping into a thing of beauty, she also caused me to become the envy of all my neighbors who slow down and gawk as they drive past my home. Her love of horticulture, her ability to get her hands dirty, her wonderful suggestions, and her helpful follow-up were greatly appreciated by this ever so grateful client.  You and your home deserve an opportunity to work with Victoria!

I contacted Vicky shortly after realizing that I was not able to handle the planning and landscaping of our property by myself. I needed guidance--someone who would listen to what I wanted, and then help me achieve that. Vicky has a great eye, and she is flexible enough that she can work with our budget and schedule. Most importantly, she is great fun to work with.
